WELCOME!

The Altered Stitch is a group of Fibre Artists who are dedicated to supporting the community and preserving this lost art. To us this is not just a hobby, it’s an expressive way of life!

Located in Lake Balboa, CA, our shop features a brightly lit interior that buzzes with friendly conversation and creative energy. Specializing in indie dyed yarns, we are known for offering a wide range of bright colors, speckled and variegated yarns, hand-dyed fiber, felting wool, as well as a plethora of classes and workshops.

Founded in 2014 by Leah SK Davidson, our shop began with her passion for supporting independent fiber businesses and the women behind them. Later, the shop was lovingly taken over by Sherri and Dawn—friends for over 30 years who discovered knitting at the same time and never looked back.

Today, we proudly continue their shared vision of community, creativity, and fiber-filled joy.

Our patient, knowledgeable staff members are passionate about helping you select the best materials and providing you with ongoing support, so you have the products and services you need to successfully complete your projects. Whether you’re checking out our newest products or you just want to hang out a while and relax, everyone’s welcome at the “Altered” Stitch!

It’s not just a hobby!

Who We Are:

Vanessa

[Owner] Vanessa fell in love with knitting in 2019 when her mom gifted her knitting lessons at The Knitting Tree for her birthday. They learned side by side—and were instantly hooked. Later, after moving to the valley, Vanessa continued her knitting journey at The Altered Stitch in Valley Village. From that first visit, she dreamed of owning a space just like it. So when the opportunity to carry on its legacy arose, she was thrilled to say yes. Now, she’s excited to keep its spirit alive—a place that celebrates creativity, community, and the fiber arts. ❤️
