Create Your Own Intarsia Design Workshop

Create Your Own Intarsia Design Workshop w/ Krista Ann of KnitsyKnits

Have you ever seen a cool picture or graphic and thought “I’d love to put that on a sweater!” but just didn’t know where to even begin? This class will teach you the math and design skills needed to take just about any graphic and knit it into your ideal piece!

What you'll learn:
Learn what patterns and designs can be translated to knitwear and how to go about creating an intarsia chart and working the math so that it can be knit into your garment.

What you need to bring:
Bring a couple of options for patterns you would like to add a graphic to. The pattern needs to be in stockinette stitch and cannot be in the round construction. Decide what yarn you want to create your piece in and bring a swatch (instructions in the homework section). When choosing a yarn, remember that you will need at least 2 colors (depending on how much color your design has) and you will want to work with a yarn that works well with intarsia (fingering weight or thicker). We suggest animal fibers (plant and synthetics really don’t work well for clean intarsia stitches).
If you have one – bring a laptop! We will be working on a computer program (free and available online)
